Longden - The Connaught Hotel

For over a hundred years the Connaught in Mayfair has been one of London’s foremost five-star hotels. Its Mayfair location coupled with unashamed levels of luxury and service have established generations of loyal devotees.

The Connaught has recently undergone a £70 million restoration to provide it with the ultimate in contemporary design, whilst retaining the feel of the traditional English home and the discreet elegance exuded by this exclusive hotel.

Longden’s panelled timber doorsets were the natural choice to fulfil the preservation and restoration brief by Chorus Group, the main contractor. Longden supplied a total of 400 doorsets for the project in an exemplary mix of panel styles.

Longden supplied 5-panel, Spencer-style walnut doorsets housed in deep ornate frames, Rivelin doorsets with fully glazed door leaves and Dorchester-style 2-panel doorsets finished in illuminating white paint to enhance the detail of the panels. These have all been integrated with the contemporary art and technology of the refurbishment to create what has been described as a ‘legend reborn’.
