When Museums Sheffield embarked on the £multi-million redevelopment of its Weston Park museum, it didn’t need to travel far for a luxury doorset manufacturer. As a local manufacturer of individually crafted doors since 1840, Longden rose to the challenge with perfectly suited, bespoke doorsets from its Chippendale and Sheraton ranges.
A Grade II listed building, Weston Park museum is the 2008 winner of the Guardian Friendly Museum Award and was shortlisted for the 5th Gulbenkian Prize for museums and galleries. With its majestic sweeping entrance and refurbished 1930s foyer, the museum has been transformed into a 21st century visitor attraction while renewing its status as one of the city’s iconic buildings.
Longden provided Dorchester 2-panel doors from its Chippendale raised and fielded range and Boston 3-panel doors from its Sheraton flat panel range, to non-rated, FD30 and FD60 standards. Longden have over 160 years experience of supplying to prestigious projects in the heritage and conservation market including the Patent Office London and Sheffield City Hall.
